OKOLONA - Billie Hampton, 70, died Monday, Jan. 10, 2011, at her residence. She was born Oct. 17, 1940, in Heber Springs, Ark., to William Levi and Leona Brock Mashburn. She was a homemaker most importantly, but she also worked as a CNA at the V.A. Hospital in Los Angeles, Calif.; as a seamstress for Reed Manufacturing; and as a dispatcher for Liberty Cab Company. An avid Atlanta Braves fan, she enjoyed playing bingo, cooking, traveling, and helping others. She was a private social worker and a Baptist. She loved her family.
The family will host a memorial service at 7 p.m. Thursday at Hope Church with Bro. Bob Leech officiating. Lee Memorial Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements.
Survivors include two daughters, Cynthia (Edward) Loniecki of Wyandotte, Mich., and Sandra (Skip) Alfreds of Tupelo; one son, Jody Lee (Tonya) Hampton of Okolona; two sisters, Louise White of Tupelo and Ann (Jim) Long of Carthage; three brothers, Wes (Sandy) Mashburn of Los Angeles, Robert (Kathy) Mashburn of Saltillo and Leroy Mashburn of Summerville, Tenn.; 13 grandchildren, six great-grandchildren; and three great-great-grandchildren; several nieces and nephews; and a special niece, Cindy Kay Leech.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Bobby Hampton; and two daughters, Bobbie Raina Hampton and Candice Louise Hampton.
Visitation will be from 6 to 7 p.m. Thursday at the church.
