Obituary

TUPELO - Barbara Bryan, 75, died Friday, March 28, 2014, at North Mississippi Medical Center after an illness. She was born May 10, 1938, in Lee County to Rubel Lee and Johnnie Opal Chaney Kellum. She attended Verona High School and was a star basketball player. She held the Mississippi high school record for most points scored in a game for almost 40 years. She was a medical office manager for many years and assisted in starting several. She was an accomplished pianist and taught music lessons for many years. She was a longtime member of Belden United Methodist Church, where she served as the pianist and church secretary/treasurer. She loved to travel, but her greatest joy was her family. She was affectionately known as Huffy.

Graveside services will be 3 p.m. today, March 30, at Lee Memorial Park with Bro. James Marks officiating. Lee Memorial Funeral Home is entrusted with arrangements.

She is survived by her husband of 58 years, Stanley Bryan; her daughters, Angie Tucker (Mike) of Smithville, Phyllis Wallo (Chris) of New Orleans, La., Susan Jackson (Michael) of Tupelo, Jenny Barnes of Tupelo and Amy Bryan of Daphne, Ala.; one sister, Judy Marks (James) of Shannon; two brothers, Earl Kellum (Betty Ann) of Shannon and Joe Kellum (Betty Jean) of Saltillo; nine grandchildren, Carrie, Luke, Nathan, Tyler, Olivia, Shelby, Megan, John Bryan and Maggie; six great-grandchildren, Payden, Jake, Annabella, Gracen, Bo and Cambelle; and several nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents; and four grandchildren, Cayce Michael Tucker, Paul Hester, Beth Scribner and Drew Scribner.

Pallbearers will be her grandchildren. Visitation will be from 1 to 2:30 p.m. today at the funeral home in Verona.
