Blue SpringsArnold Whitten Grubbs, 92, died Monday, November 10, 2014 at the Community Hospice at Darlington Oaks after an extended illness. Born May 12, 1922 in Union County, he was the son of Lonzo and Gertrude Grubbs (Hall). He was a US Army Veteran of World War II, serving in the European, African, and Middle Eastern Theaters. After the war, he settled in Memphis where he worked in apartment maintenance. He later moved back to North Mississippi and worked for many years for Sears as a service technician. He was married to Hazel Lavell Hoage Grubbs for nearly 60 years.
A memorial service will be held 2 pm Saturday November 22, 2014 at Blue Springs Baptist Church with Rev. Robert Hoague officiating. Lee Memorial Funeral Home is entrusted with the arrangements.
He is survived by 5 children, Betty Jane Christopherson of Blue Springs, Larry Arnold Grubbs (Linda) of Memphis, Terry Allen Grubbs of Blue Springs, Ronald Wayne Grubbs (Ann) of Kansas City, and Arnold Grubbs Jr. (Betty Jo) of Blue Springs; his granddaughter and caregiver, Kathy Ferguson of Blue Springs; 9 additional grandchildren; 17 great-grandchildren; 5 great-grandchildren; 2 step-grandsons; and 2 step-great-grandsons.
He was preceded in death by his wife and parents; 2 sons, David Dale and Donald Dwayne Grubbs; a brother, Rev. Marvin Grubbs; and a step-brother, Curtis "Tip" Grubbs
