TUPELO - Annie Cooper, 87, died Tuesday, April 8, 2014, at North Mississippi Medical Center. She was born May 16, 1926, in Rutherford, Tenn., to Sullivan and Gertha Sharp. She was a longtime cashier for the Salvation Army, and she attended Salvation Army Church. She loved reading, especially her Bible, going out to eat, going to church, listening to the radio and spending time with her friends and family.
Graveside services will be noon Saturday, April 12, at Bethel Baptist Church Cemetery in Union County with Maj. Sue Dorman and Lt. Jervonne Hinton officiating. Lee Memorial Funeral Home is entrusted with the arrangements.
Survivors include four sisters, Carlene Philpot of Southaven, Lillian McMillen of Bartlett, Tenn., Wanda Welch of Southaven and Audrey Parker (Bobby Joe) of Memphis; numerous nieces and nephews; and her Salvation Army family.She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Elwood Cooper; two brothers, Marion and Jerion Sharp; and a sister, Modene Sharp.Pallbearers will be Randy Parker, Ronnie Welch, Steve Welch, Joe Howell, Frank Ewell and Chris Perkins.
Visitation will be from 4 to 6 p.m. Friday.In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Salvation Army, P.O. Box 706, Tupelo, MS 38802.
