Obituary

EggvilleAl Burchfield, 63, died Sunday, January 28, 2013, after a lengthy illness. He was born in Quitman to Amzie Lee and Grace Hamilton Burchfield. He grew up in Itta Bena but had lived in Lee County the past 42 years. A veteran of the Vietnam War, he served in the US Army and was a double Purple Heart medal recipient. He was retired from Gibson Container where he worked as a supervisor. He was a member of Emmanuel Baptist Church. He enjoyed fishing, NASCAR, and loved spending time with his family.

Services will be 2 p.m. Tuesday at the Lee Memorial Funeral Home Chapel with Bro. David Barnett officiating. Burial with military honors will be in Lee Memorial Park.

Survivors include his wife of 17 years, Eydie Burchfield; his goddaughter, Laken Timms; three children, Alicia Mathieu (Andy), Robyn Holcomb (Kevin), and Adam Burchfield; three sisters, Faye Benson, Jennifer Mayo (Freddie), and Rita Scruggs (Wayne); his grandchildren, Samantha Barnett (Jason King), Corbyn Thompson, Meladie Royce (Casey), Allana Burchfield, Nick, Dillion, and Katie Mathieu, and Ali and Landon Holcomb; his great-grandchildren, Ayden Royce and Rody King; nephews, Lee Benson, Sammy Benson, Greg Baker and Jerry Scruggs; nieces, Brandy Lindsey (Michael) and Anita Brown

Visitation will continue noon to service time Tuesday at the funeral home.
